Final Production Files

The final files for Oceans in English, German, French, Italian, and Spanish are complete and at the printers. We need to get the final printrun numbers for the Italian and French edition before we can cut the purchase order. I expect to have these numbers by Tuesday of next week.

Timeline

Giving accurate estimates is always difficult, especially with the current trade wars and the upcoming holidays. My current estimate is that the first wave of English games will arrive in late November and early December.  And the second wave should arrive 2 weeks later. Probably longer for those in the UK because of Brexit complications. 

I don't have an estimate for when the non-English games will arrive. Each publisher will use their own fulfillment company to deliver the game.  And we can't give them an estimate on when the games will be delivered to our partners until production starts sometime in mid September. 

SHUX 2019

I plan to bring a production sample of Oceans to SHUX in October.  I'll be showing Oceans, Paint the Roses (our next Kickstarter game), and Super Wits (coming to Kickstarter in 2021 or 2022). Come say hi and we'll play a game!

2nd Wave of Fulfillment

The second wave of shipments will start shipping as soon as everything from the the 1st wave has been shipped. I expect the 2nd wave to start about 3 - 4 weeks after the first wave of shipments begins (but no promises).

GenCon Pictures

GenCon 2019 was our best show ever! These pictures are from Thursday morning (when GenCon is not crowded). I left that afternoon, so I don't have pictures from any of the crazy busy days.

Timeline Update

We're still getting files from our partners, and samples from our manufacturer. We are not yet satisfied with the quality of the samples, so we're getting modification. We want higher quality cardboard for the Reef and Ocean (so they don't fray) and thicker cardboard for the fish tokens so they are easier to pick up. 

For instance, although some of these bags are fantastic, we think we can improve the colors for some of them. It takes time to get everything right. We want to make sure everyone is pleased with the final product. 

I will post an update in 1 or 2 weeks when production begins.

Hi Oceans Backers, 

A quick post to remind those who haven't filled out surveys on Backerkit for Oceans to do so. 

The Oceans' pledge manager will close 6 days from now, on August 5. If you don't complete your survey by then, we won't be able to send your rewards in the first wave of shipments, and you may have to wait quite a while for the second wave. 

Those second-wave shipments require us to do more manual processing of backer information, and because we're a small team, that processing can be time-consuming. So, by completing your survey now, you save us a lot of time and help us run this campaign efficiently!

First Production Sample Arrives: The Ocean

This arrived yesterday and I could not be more pleased! It's feel sturdy and looks better than I was expecting. We just want one minor change: for the sides to fold the other direction so the Reef can go to the left of the Ocean. A simple change, but that's exactly why we get production samples.

Timeline Update

• The printers have the final English files.
• We received our first production sample of The Reef yesterday. It feels sturdy and looks great!
• Our international partners are currently working on their translations and print files. 
• We will finalize the order as soon as we have final print files and final print run numbers from everyone.

To Move Things Forward...

Nearly 1,000 backers still need to fill out their information on the pledge manager. If you are one of them, please go the BackerKit as soon as possible. This will help us move the process forward more quickly. Thanks!

Once we have finalized the order with a down-payment, we'll be able to give you a preliminary estimate on delivery dates.  The official street date is January 2nd, 2020, but we hope to get your games to you a couple months beforehand.

Extra Deep cards available in German, Italian, and Spanish!

German & Italian

Good news! The expansion and promo Deep cards are now available on BackerKit in German (Schwerkraft-Verlag) and Italian (Pendragon Game Studios).

Spanish

Good news!  Ediciones MasQueOca has decided to make the expansion and promo Deep cards available in Spanish. They are not posting them on BackerKit, so you'll need to contact them for information about how to get the cards (or see if they post something on their blog). 

French

We are not sure if FunForge will provide the extra Deep cards in French. Please reach out to them directly for more information.

ABOUT THESE CARDS

We designed 12 new cards for the Deep after the Kickstarter campaign ended. These cards can be added to the Deep to change the experience.  Oceans has an unusual structure that allows you to tailor your copy of the Deep to your personal tastes without hurting the balance of the game.  We are providing these card in 2 different bundles on BackerKit. The first bundle is similar to those provided in the game. The other bundle is a set of foiled promo cards which have a slightly different angle.

The cards in Oceans Add-On Bundle 2 are foiled promo cards. Promo cards appeal to a smaller subset of our fans, but within that subset, they are often the most loved cards available. They are either:

• More aggressive
• More chaotic / random
• Or more complicated
